In order to strengthen its position in the Indian television market, Japanese consumer durable maker Sony today introduced a 65 inch LED TV, priced at Rs 3.6 lakh.

Sony India launches its biggest screen size 65 (165cms) HX925 LED TV in the current line-up of Bravia.The newly introduced product will come along with a skype camera and two pairs of 3D glasses.It is available at all Sony Centers and other major electronic outlets across India,” the statement said.

Sony is among the top players in the Indian television market along with the likes of Korean majors Samsung and LG.

Sony’s televisions, which are sold under the Bravia brand, are the biggest revenue generator for the company in India, contributing about 35 per cent to its overall sales that stood at Rs 5,500 crore in last fiscal.

Sony India had said it expected the Indian operations to contribute about 10 per cent of its overall global turnover, up from the current 5 per cent, by 2015. In the fiscal ended March 31, 2011, Sony Corporation had posted revenue of USD 86.521 billion

Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of ‘Live with Walkman’ smartphone in India. The Android-based smartphone is priced at Rs 14,549 approximately.

Nokia’s latest and most expensive Windows Phone smartphone, Lumia 900, was showcased at the recently held Consumer Electronics Show in USA. But, the handset was an LTE version and therefore unsuited to markets like India.

This is likely to change soon as UK based retailer UK Carphone Warehouse has put up a pre-booking page for the Lumia 900 without LTE, which it claims will ship starting in June.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors India might not be selling truckloads of the world’s largest selling hybrid car in India(It has sold 150 units of the Prius since 2010), but that hasn’t stopped the Japanese major from bringing in the facelifted version of the Prius Hybrid sedan to the Indian market. The 2012 Prius Hybrid was launched at the ongoing 2012 Indian Auto Expo with prices ranging between INR 27.39 to INR 29.41 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

The 2012 Prius is essentially a mid career makeover and in line with that retains most of the features and specifications of the previous generation Prius even as a set of new features make it to the facelifted model. One new feature is that of the solar car cooling system, wherein a set of solar panels embedded into the Prius Hybrid’s roof turn on the air conditioner’s recirculation mode if the car is parked in hot and sultry conditions.

What this will do is, it will ensure that the fresh air circulates into the Prius Hybrid’s cabin even when the car is parked under hot conditions, thereby ensuring a cooler and more pleasant welcome to the driver when he or she returns to the Prius parked under the sun. Since the Prius does this by using solar power, the process does not consume any non renewable energy including electricity from Prius’ the battery stack.

Also, a cooler cabin means lesser load on the air conditioning, which further translates into electricity/petrol conserved.
This apart, the 2012 Prius retains the 1.8 Liter, 98 Bhp-140 Nm petrol engine and the 80 Bhp-207 electric motor in a series hybrid set up. The engines are mated to an automatic gearbox. The 2012 Prius Hybrid is now available for order at all Indian Toyota dealerships.

Hindustan Unilever has entered the premium water purifier segment, three years after entering the market with its affordable Pureit range, now the largest-selling water purifier in the country.

The new product, Pureit Marvella RO (Reverse Osmosis), at Rs 13,500, is priced fifteen times more than the company’s base product, Pureit Intella, which starts at Rs 900.
