MAIN ENTRANCE
The main door is like the mouth for the house and is also called Chi Gate sometimes. It is the gateway between the world and the privacy of the home and air currents literally enter and exit at this point. The positioning of a main door can determine the fortune or misfortune of the occupants.

- Main door should have a protective roof.
- Main door should be made of solid wood.
- Main door should open inwards and have 2 leaves
- Main door should not be under a toilet/bathroom.

- Main door should open into an open space.

- Size of main door should be measured to fortunate dimensions using a Feng Shui ruler.
- There should be no shoes or slippers lying around outside the main door of your house. Remove it if you can. Allow that space at the main door to be free and clear. The chi (energy) rides with the wind and will collect all the smell of those shoes and slippers into your house causing sickness. Chi then travels about in your house looking for water to stay but if there are no water fountains or fish tanks, then the Chi will be dispersed by wind.
Every school of Feng Shui stressed the importance of the main entrance to your home. Your main entrance to your home is the mouth of your home where most chi enters. Your main entrance will determine whether the Feng Shui of your home is good or bad.
SIDE ENTRANCE
Many people enter their home through a back or side door out of convenience. Garage entrances are very common as well. If this is the entrance used more than the formal front door, then the energies at this side entrance will affect you more. This does NOT however change the orientation of your house.
