Hello Mr. Khanna,

uPVC or aluminium - for windows: it is debatable. But uPVC windows are a recent trend and are being made more responsibly, at a factory that is more or less equipped. The joints are welded (at the corners), so it makes a more stable frame. Dimensions can be more accurate in a factory-made product. Also, the option of double-glazing is easily achievable in the available uPVC sections. Your choices are wider than your windows.

Feel free to discuss more. Cheers!

uPVC windows : standard color is 'white', price range : Rs.500.00 to Rs.750.00 per sqft,[based on styling of window]. alternative to white is 'wood' laminate on upvc which cost about Rs.900.00 per sqft. Does not have choice of color finishes.

Aluminium : Gives alot of choices for color. Comes as Anodised and Powder coated. The premium brand in aluminium has very sleek and elegant profiles. price range: Rs.400.00 ~ Rs.600.00.

General Differences: Material and construction.
Common comparison : almost the same price range.

Which is better?
Anodised Aluminium matches uPVC windows in aesthetic appearance for external elevations.

In terms of pricing, they both match up to the same.

In terms of window opening, aluminium has a 'butt hinge' which enables to open the window 180degree. Normally this is not the case with upvc, but can be provided upon request.

Glad to assist you with any further details if needed.

As mentioned by other representatives all points are perfect but i need to show some other important issues which are never been covered.

With Aluminium windows basic problem is the quality of Aluminium system used , which is checked on mere weight basis rather than design and application . Secondly, technical skills of the fabricator who is doing the job.The fabrication should be done in the factory with high precision machines and never on site.

Some of the Attributes of UPVC WINDOW

- EXTREME ENVIRONEMNT - Becomes Brittle

- HUMID/COASTAL ENVIRONMENT - Steel inserts starts rusting

- SYSTEM DESIGN - Not very flexible

- POWDER COATING - Not Possible

- STRENGTH - Achieved from steel inserts, limitation in height

- Recyclability - Not recyclable

- UV stability - Not Stable

- Toxicity(After Burning) - Emit harmful gases: Chlorine, Dioxine, hydrochloric acid & Carcinogens

- RESALE VALUE - LOW

Above attribute provide the problems which other countries like UK, UAE etc. are facing after using upvc window. It is not a green product and also very harmful after it catches fire so is it safe to use in our house.

The attached document also shows overview of UPVC life cycle..

my personal preference is window magic India doors and window frames simply because the color match is very similar in the white and the quality is spot on. halo are also good and easier to get a better energy rating because it is a five chamber system but you can get a c rating with windows.

with lots of discussion i think UPVC windows are good increase energy efficiency in a home by increasing insulation and according to aluminum UPVC is a tough material and difficult to break or bend.
